From the Director

Today while inventorying the collections, we found these two Rancho Bernardo Christmas cards. They date from the 60s. We would very much like to know who designed the cards and any information about the artist (s).
The card at the top depicts the lighted olive trees. The other card is a panoramic fold out. You see only half of it here. Don't these hills look lovely?
Please contact us if you have information.

While looking through a Bernardo Brandings from October 1965 this morning, I came across information on the card with the wreath. It was done by Mrs. Edwin Riemer, Jr., and was the winner in a contest of paintings to be used for Rancho Bernardo's Christmas card for 1965. Thirteen paintings were submitted and displayed for voting at the RB Inn. Runner up was Mrs. Elliot Jensen who did a painting of "the condimiums." The cards could be purchased for .20/each or imprinted for .25/each with an order of 50. The article references last year's card which is the other card pictured here but no artist is identified. I checked the 1964 Brandings that we have but there was nothing about the landscape card.
